I'll be drawing up a design for one or two mahogany gate doors for the exterior entry to our (soon to be) new walled courtyard.

Planning For Expansion (and why we need professionals) 1 Reply

There are plenty of studies that explain how we humans make decisions, and the upshot seems to be that we really should not make them for ourselves. Whether choosing what to have for breakfast, who…Continue

A dash of color...

Depending on where you live, you may or may not

be able to pull off a door like the one below. For one thing, it would

depend on how strict your home owner's association is. Some HOA want

all doors to be white or all doors to be brown. But, if you have a HOA

who is relaxed, or don't have one at all, then your door can probably

be however you like. Below, this door, is a great example of what a

little creativity can do for your entrance way.…

Decorative portal

Below is a picture of a really neat looking door

- though it is more of an entry way than a door. Still, it is kind of a

cool pic. Definitely goes to show you that you don't always have to

think of doors in the regular sense. They aren't always - forgive me -

relative, enter without resistance. But, it is…

Artistic security

Your entry way can say a lot about you. It can

say that you care about security. It can say that you keep your windows

impeccably clean. It can even say that you haven't swept your porch

since the early 1980's. The point is that your entry way can say a lot,

so why not make it say what you want. With your entry way, you have a

chance to introduce people to your house ("House, meet John"). One of

the best ways to do this is with a unique…

Discreet security

In this day and age, all of us can use a little

security, including in our home. Most of our houses have doors, or, at

least, I am hoping they do. Sometimes, these doors provide enough

security, other times, people feel more assured with an extra layer of

protection. When this happens, some people turn to things like alarms

or blood thirty (or at least yippy) guard dogs. Other people take the

more subtle route and install a security door. The…
